Up and down the hills
In terms of biking, Val d’Ega was one of the pioneers in South Tyrol. Today, there is plenty going on in the biking paradise around Latemar and Catinaccio! Trails for pleasure cyclists or downhill bikers, panorama tours across mountain passes, shady forestry paths or flowy Alpine pasture tours - there is barely anywhere you can’t get to in the saddle! Many of the cable cars don’t only transport you but also your bike. Once you have arrived at the top, you can still push yourself to your heart’s content! Thanks to the mild climate, you can enjoy these rides from April to October.
We also love pushing those pedals. We therefore know what bikers need to be happy. Josef, the son in our hotel, is an experienced bike guide and will gladly give you one or the other insider tip. To keep your legs strong, we will send you into the mountains with an energy-rich athlete’s lunch (on request and to be paid separately).
Bike hire “Bike Rent Carezza” directly at the hotel
Here you can rent high quality mountain bikes, eBikes, touring and trekking bikes. For experts or beginners, with different frame sizes for adults and children. To ensure that your bike is suitable for the mountains, we also stock specialist mountain equipment.
Bike garage and workshop
Your bike is stored safely in our lockable bicycle room. And if the bike conks out we have the appropriate tools at the ready.
Some days you come back from your tour covered in mud! No problem! In the bike garage you can clean your bike at the wash station. We also offer a special laundry service for bikers: In your room you will find your own laundry bag for biking clothes. Hand it in by 6:00 pm and we return your perfectly clean biking shorts and top the next morning. You can also peg up your cycling clothes including shoes on the drying rack in the bike room.
Josef knows every corner of the biking region Val d’Ega. It goes without saying that he can recommend a suitable biking tour and help with route planning! Our touring maps also contain one or the other insider’s tip. To ensure that you don’t lose your way, we hire our GPS-devices with the GPS-data for the whole regional network of tours for mountain bikers and racing cyclist (20 Euro per day).
Guided mountain bike tours
You don’t want to go on tour on your own? Then why not book a guided mountain bike tour! Bike guide Josef accompanies you on the most beautiful day tours or multi‑day tours for beginners or experts. And if you want to work on your technique, riding technique training can help to perfect your skills.
What should I bring to my biking holiday?
For biking in the Dolomites we strongly recommend lugged tyres. Semislicks are only partially suitable for mastering the sometimes steep descents and climbs. A full suspension bike is preferable to a hardtail. In the Dolomites the sun shines most of the time, so from April to October it’s enough to wear biking shorts and short-sleeved shirts. But don’t underestimate the altitude and pack sleeves, leggings and weatherproof rainwear!
